A firm built since 2003, into West Kent since 2018

The Sevenoaks office is not an inherited brass plate. It is a 2018 decision by a 2003 firm.

The other firms on Sevenoaks High Street trade on the year they were founded. Some date to the 1820s, some to the 1870s. Manak does not. Surinder Singh Manak arrived in the UK in June 1982, aged 13. He took an LL.B at the University of Birmingham, qualified as a solicitor in May 1999, and on 1 February 2003 became Senior Partner at what became Manak and Whiting Solicitors in Orpington. The firm grew from one office to four, opened Sevenoaks in May 2018, and moved into the ground-floor wheelchair-accessible premises at 46 London Road in October 2019.

What we have instead of inheritance is a registered-trademark online instruction platform, a Family Director with the Law Society’s Advanced Family Law Panel accreditation, a reception that serves clients in five languages, and 4.9 stars across more than 1,200 reviews on ReviewSolicitors and Google. Two competitor firms have joined us in the last two years: Ennis-Webb in Biggin Hill in 2023 and Browns Solicitors of Bromley in April 2025. The Law Gazette covered the second one.

We are on the A225 London Road between Sevenoaks railway station (eight minutes down) and the medieval High Street (five minutes up). Across the road sits Bligh’s Meadow shopping precinct. The Vine, England’s oldest cricket ground in continuous use, and the modern replacement seven oaks (planted after the 1987 storm felled six of the originals) are a short walk south.

Front-door questions

Five things we are asked most weeks.

Drawn from the actual phone calls and emails into 46 London Road over the last year, weighted to family and conveyancing because that is what walks in.

Can I instruct you entirely online via Instant Instruct, or do I have to come into 46 London Road?

Either works, and the choice is yours. Instant Instruct, at i.manaksolicitors.co.uk, lets you open a file, get a fixed-fee quote, complete ID and AML and instruct us in a single browser session. Most residential conveyancing files now start that way. If you prefer the in-person route, the Sevenoaks ground floor at 46 London Road is wheelchair-accessible and a short walk from both the railway station and Bligh’s Meadow. Many family clients meet Aneeta in person for the first conversation, then run the rest of the matter by Zoom or Teams.

We are an international family with assets in two countries. Can the Sevenoaks desk handle that?

Yes. Aneeta’s family team handles complex and high-net-worth divorce as a specifically named lane at Sevenoaks, including pension sharing, business assets and cross-border interests. On the property side, Jas Jandu’s desk routes joint-property declarations of trust, transfers of equity and high-value conveyancing. The Sevenoaks office serves clients in English, French, Punjabi, Hindi and Urdu, which matters when the conversation about a marital home or an estate plan touches more than one country.

What does the Advanced Family Law Panel accreditation actually mean for my case?

The Law Society’s Advanced Family Law Panel is an accreditation awarded after at least three years’ post-qualification family experience, a peer-reviewed sample of real case files and ongoing re-accreditation every five years. Fewer than 700 solicitors in England and Wales hold it. In practice it means your file is run by someone the Law Society has independently judged competent on the complex end of family law, not just on the routine work.

Do you offer fixed fees for residential conveyancing, and what is excluded?

Yes. Instant Instruct issues a fixed-fee quote at the point you open the file, broken down between our fees and the disbursements (Land Registry, searches, Stamp Duty, indemnity premiums where applicable). The fee covers a standard freehold or leasehold transaction with a single mortgage. Unusual leases, retrospective consents, statutory declarations for missing documents and lender-driven re-work after exchange are additional and quoted in writing before any work is done. No surprise invoices.

How does the Sevenoaks office work alongside the wider Manak firm?

Sevenoaks is one of four Manak offices (Orpington, Gravesend, Biggin Hill, Sevenoaks) plus the Bromley footprint added through the April 2025 Browns Solicitors acquisition. Your matter is run by the Sevenoaks team, with Aneeta as the named lawyer on Family and Jas Jandu as the named lawyer on conveyancing and Private Client. Where a matter benefits from the wider firm’s specialist resource (international Private Client, complex litigation, commercial conveyancing volume), that resource is brought in without re-pitching the relationship.
